Get That Gelt Before It Melts!
Hay, nun, gimel, shin,
Dreidel, dreidel, spin spin spin!
Gimel, yes! I get the pot.
Look at all the gelt I’ve got.
Wait a minute—where’d it go?
My gelt is on the run—oh no!
Get that gelt before it melts!
One gelt launches toward the ceiling,
Trips on stray potato peelings!
Stumbles, tumbles, falls in oil.
Four gelt left in golden foil.
Get that gelt before it melts!
One gelt zips past Great Aunt Zora
As she lights our bright menorah,
Tries to leap past all eight lights.
Too much heat from all eight nights.
Get that gelt before it melts!
Three gelt left, now one tries hiding.
Should it run? It’s still deciding.
But—too late! It’s squished to mush,
Melted under Zeyde’s tush.
Get that gelt before it melts!
Diving in a doughnut pile
One gelt tries to rest a while.
Freshly fried, the doughnuts steam.
Uh oh—who knew gelt could scream!
Get that gelt before it melts!
Now just one gold coin to catch.
It’s no time to groan or kvetch.
Time to focus. Eyebrows scrunch.
Get that gelt, let’s munch munch munch!
“Wait!” it cries. “Please let me spin.
Let’s play dreidel, see who wins?”
Shin, nun, gimel, hay
Dreidel, dreidel, time to play!
Sorry gelt—you got a shin!
Guess that means…
WE PUT YOU IN!
NOM NOM NOM NOM.
